Testdisk Data Recovery

Recovering a LUKS partition, now it doesn’t mount?

Okay, so I was trying to install Windows 7 and accidentally deleted all the other partitions in the process, including a LUKS-encrypted Ubuntu partition. I used Testdisk to recover the partition structure, and apparently the partitions are back again, but whenever I booted into the Ubuntu recovery disk and tried to mount the partition; it asked for the password, which I entered several times, and it wouldn’t mount no matter what I tried.

My only two theories are that:
1) Testdisk doesn’t recover data, only partition structures
2) The data has already been overwritten by Windows 7 and it is totally unrecoverable

Any advice?
