Mac Hard Drive Data Recovery
external HD stopped working?
so, my acomdata 250gb external hard drive wont turn on. the AC adapter light is on, but the HD light is not on and it is making a clicking noise. im screwed, arent i? this was the back up of my intel mac mini and also holds all the pictures i have taken since 2004, not to mention about 200 g of other stuff. data recovery by some expensive means is out of the question. is there some way i can take out the hard drive and attach it somewhere else, just to get my pictures? i have a windows vista and an ibm thinkpad lying around.
DONT TOUCH IT, put it in a box and take it to a computer specialist in your town like a mac store or something check to see if there is still a warranty on it, just leave it alone and dont keep trying it will just make it worse.
Mainly you got a REALLY bad Hard Drive i have a Toshiba and it works great on my mac if you want something that has REALLY important info put on it get one from the mac store, like the bounce proof ones they sell.
