Free Data Recovery Windows 7
Advice needed on upgrading both hardware and OS. Help needed!?
My system specs are as follows;
Hard Drives:
1. 500GB which is actually 465GB with 356.7GB Free
Partitioned into a) Windows – Size- 100GB & b) Data – Size 365GB
2. 320GB which is actually 298GB with 291GB Free
NOTE: This was my first harddrive in which Windows XP crashed a few weeks ago. To recover my files I purchased the 500GB to use for recovery purposes. This is for additional storage now.
RAM: 2GB DDR2
Processor: AMD Sempron ™ Processor LE-1200 2.10GHZ
System Tpe: 32-bit OS
Motherboard is a Biostar N61PB-M2S motherboard.
I am planning to upgrade my system with a dual core processor and an additional 2GB of RAM. Will this upgrade require me to reboot my Windows 7 from a 32-bit OS to a 64-bit OS?
1) Upgrading the processor doesn’t require reinstalling windows. You do want to make sure the BIOS of that motherboard is updated to the appropriate level before installing the new processor so it can be recognized. Best guess is that your motherboard is known as the Biostart MCP6P M2+, so it can handle most AMD processors up to 4 cores and 95W TDP: http://www.biostar-usa.com/app/en-us/mb/cpu_support.php?S_ID=370
2) To use the full 4 GB, you will need to reinstall Windows 32-bit with the 64-bit version. In your situation, I’d probably settle for the 3.5 GB the 32-bit version can access rather than doing a clean install.
