Flash Data Recovery

My laptop dropped about two feet–then worked for an hour and now it’s crashed. Data recovery possible?
After the fall, all the programs worked fine and I was in the process of saving everything to a flash drive…and then it froze. Nothing would save, open or close. I’ve run several diagnostic tests on the HD and it failed. I called customer support and they walked me through a few test and it failed.
I’m wondering if an external USB enclosure for a laptop hard drive will work to recover these files if I hook it up to another computer, or if it won’t work because physical damage was the reason for the crash?
BTW: I know the hard drive works a little (I think) because it allows me to boot the computer far enough to put in my username/password, then it stalls.
Hello,
You can try. I would suggest you use s device known as an IDE/SATA to USB Adapter (google “BT-300 topmicrousa”) This device skips the operating system and allows you to access the files on the hard drive. I would give this a try before calling it quits.
Best of luck.
