Failed Hard Drive Data Recovery
Hard drive HELP?? Format and Transfer problems.?
Hi all. I’ll try and explain this as easy as possible. I have a Dell Inspiron 1521 that had a failing hard drive so I replaced it. I inserted my backup disc with all the data from the old hard drive and all I got was a message saying No Boot Driver or something like that? I restarted laptop and hit F12 and did what it said to do, and still nothing. So I left for a couple of hour and upon returning, my *sshole brother took it upon his self to install an old version of Windows XP he had found. Needless to say I hit the roof ! My first question is how do I format my new hard drive to remove XP? And second, why doesn’t my backup disc install? I have tried to create a recovery disc, but failed. A Windows vista home premium disc was not included when I purchased the laptop. I just don’t how to format the new hard drive to remove XP and I don’t know how I’m going to transfer the Operating system and file to the new one. Anybody please HELP !!
Thanks, Bob
First a back up is only used to fix Thai drive it was made from.
Go to dell web sight and see if it is still under warranty if so you may want to tell them that you do not have the os disk and would it be passable to get one.
When you get the a Vista disk you will need to install it and you will be able to format at the same time.
