Data Recovery Vdr

Is it normal for a miniDVD to become unreadable after the camcorder is dropped?

I just got a miniDVD camcorder and it my younger sister decided to play with it and she dropped it while it was on. There was data on the disc and the camera told me to hit the reset button and check data on the disc. Well we hot reset and it rebooted and is reading the disc as blank. I am using a miniDVD-RW. Is it possible the files were erased or are they corrupted. I’ve used just about every data recovery program includin ISOBuster and CDroller. If you have any idea what went wrong and why please help me.

I have a Panasonic VDR-D220 if it helps

It is possible that the optical lens has been damaged, and therefore is unable to read the disk. You can test this by inserting a disk that you know has something on it and try viewing the images. You can try to record as well, if the camera will not record then the lens has been damaged and needs to be replaced.
