Can I please get some advise re: laws relating to recovery of debts for a deceased person & the DPA & FOI act?
Im looking for laws relating to the Data Protection Act and Freedom of Information Acts and regarding the recoverability of a 3rd party’s debt.
A relative of mine lost their partner and has been effectively forced to repay a debt that may not have been in their name.
The bank are refusing to give any information regarding the loan to the person they are trying to recover it from – not even to confirm if it (the debt) is in their name or joint names any details of their own account and are insistant that the person they are trying to recover from is responsible for the debt.
Can someone (preferably with UK legal know how) please help with the necessary laws?
