Data Recovery Software Boot Cd

data recovery software boot cd
My Compaq Computer will not boot!!!! Please Help!?

Hi!
I have a Compaq Presario S6500NX. My computer froze last friday after acting weird and sluggish for about 2 days. I held down the power button to turn off the computer. I waited a couple of minutes before turning it back on. After rebooting the computer, it went to a screen saying that: “windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
System32Driversisapnp.sys

You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the original Setup CD-ROM.
Select ‘r’ at the first screen to start repair.”

I had to reorder the recovery disks (there are 8 of them).

My question is what do i do now? Do i need to back up my hard drive before attempting the repair? I do not want to lose any data or software.

If i do need to back it up, where should i take it?

Also can someone give me a detailed walkthrough about how to use the disks?

Thanks in advance!

P.S. using XP

Turn your computer off, then turn it back on, press F10 when computer turns on. This will take you to system restore. Follow directions given on screen.
