Data Recovery Scavenger
Which have you found to be better for data recovery and why: File Scavenger or Recover My Files?
I’m curious because I hit my external hard drive in my irritation to make this buzzing sound shut up, and now the drive won’t read correctly, the files can be seen with File Scavenger so far, but I haven’t used RMF yet.

So much for you being a top contributor in software.
I’ve used both and they are hit or miss in different situations. If you “hit” your external hard drive, it may be physical damage, in which case neither program will be very useful.
