Best way to format disk to PREVENT data recovery?

Hi,

I need to send my hard drive back to the manufacturer for replacement, as it has bad clusters.

I have formatted the disk, using a Windows Vista Quick format, but using data recovery tools, I can see that the original data is still there.

What is the best procedure to take, so that my personal data is unrecoverable?

a) Write random data to fill up the 500GB disk, and then reformat.

b) Get a low level formatting tool, and do a LLF.

c) Any other suggestions?

Thanks
