How long will an unused hard drive keep its data?
There is a little more to this question if i may.
I have a ST760211DE 60 gb Seagate hard drive of 1.8 inch size and it recently suffered a head crash. It costs a lot to pay for recovery so im planning on keeping the hard drive somewhere until im easily able ot pay for recovery. Assuming that the head crash has not wiped out the majority of the data how long could i keep the hard drive without it suffering any long term loss of data? roughly…
I’d say as long as an unused floppy disk – about 5-6 years.
