Everything on Mac is gone!?
i forgot the password for the admin on a macbook so i went online and found a code to reset the password when it went all the way back to the welcome movie. nothing was there when i got to the desktop. i searched and found all my old folers but it had a red circle with a white dash in it on the bottom right of the folder. and i clicked it and it said i dont have suffficient enough priveleges. can someone please help me recovery this REALLY IMPORTANT DATA?
Why did you do that? You can still get your files, they are fine. Just dont do things to your computer if you dont know what your doing.
You could have just popped in the Mac install cd, boot from it and go to Utilities and use the “Reset Password” application to reset the admin password.
You need to log in as root. You can try to set your account as Administrator in System Preferences. You can boot the computer in Single User mode. You can use the Directory application (a hidden application in the System Preferences Accounts tab) to enable Root user to gain access to every part of the computer. Any of the above will work.
