XP Boot Error – “Boot from cd” – advanced bios and Recovery Console not helping!?
Hi
XP is trying to boot up as normal, but gets to the “Verifying DMI Pool Data” bit and then requests that you “Boot from CD”
Have tried going into the Advanced BIOS menu and changing boot priorities 1, 2 and 3 to “Hard Drive” – no help
(NB. 1st option, “Hard disk Boot priority” (where it says press enter) cannot be changed from “Bootable Add in cards”. Not sure if this is significant)
Have tried with an XP disc to use Recovery Console with chkdsk /p . It scans the partition and can tell me there is a problem but doesn’t attempt to do anything with it.
Please help! I’m utterly stumped!!

Thanks for the webpage, unfortunately, I have no bootable floppy disk and other things listed are tried and failed.
I have an XP CD but it has so far been of little help in the Recovery Console.
I also really don’t want to have to format the computer if at all possible!
