What is the best data recovery software for Maxtor One Touch on a Mac?

I have a Seagate Maxtor One Touch 320gb. A couple months ago when I installed it to my Mac it says “disk insertion the disk you inserted was not readable by this computer” and gives me the options “initialize, ignore, and eject” I have tried all three and nothing happens. But the light still turns on when it is plugged in. I need this information on my hard drive ASAP for work and school due in the next week. A very important project in my masters thesis. Please help

I know that I have to use a data recovery software but I’m not sure which one to use??? (I dont care about the price bc I’m going to download it).
