Data extraction for external hard drive?
Yesterday my 1 Terabyte external hardrive just failed on me and I called the manufacturer and they want me to send it in so i can get a new one but they said i have to take it to a different company to get my data saved from my old one. So my question is does anyone know if places like Best-Buy or any other tech stores around Flint Michigan do data recovery.
You can try data recovery yourself using a free program called Recuva, but this will only work if the actual drive is working (is recognised in Windows), however you might be able to open the case & install it in your PC to get access to the drive, then see if you can navigate to the folders etc.
Even if the drive doesn’t display properly in windows, you might still be able to get Recuva to recover some of your files.
