Can reformatted data be recovered from a harddrive?
My computer initially had Windows 2003 server when first built in 2004, then XP in 2006. The power box died in April 07 and I’ve only just now resurrected it. My father installed Vista over the old XP system and files and now the harddirve is formatted and only has Vista. All of my music, images, documents, etc have now been lost.
I’ve been searching up recovery software and information on data recovery, and I’ve gotten mixed information. Some say “just download this free app and it will fix it for you”. I tried one, and it did not work. Others say, “Oh, no its impossible, it cannot be done!”
I’m going to put this concisely. I want to recover my lost information. How can I possibly recover this information that has been written over?
