Pls Help me! External Drive Data Recovery? Sensitive Data onboard.?
Hi All,
I have a Maxtor One Touch Pro 3 ( 750MB) External Hard drive that is now not responding. The USB detects it. The Maxtor Manager( an app which came with the drive) says, no drive detected sometimes and other times tells me that it needs to be formatted and when I test drive, it tells me that it needs service.
I’m an Electrical Engineering graduate student, and this drive contains a lot of sensitive research work data on it. I can’t afford to give it to a company to salvage the data for me. Can somebody please suggest help me with few data recovery tools available online for free. Something that works.
I tried using TestDrive. The tool wont even detect my external drive (but windows can).
I tried another tool called PC Inspector file recovery, it doesn’t either search or scan for USB external drives.
Can somebody help me on this. Has anyone experienced a similar situation before?

If you’ve got a couple of years worth of work on the drive, and need to get the data, before you entirely give up on a hard drive look into ‘Spinrite’ by Gibson Research.
