Data Recovery Cd Rom
HDD not recognised, new cpu and mobo?
My old gigabyte motherboard + athlon xp decided to give up just after I bought a new western digi 80 gig ide hdd.
So I have just put together the new gigabyte s2, amd 2 core 4200 chip and a gig of ram.
I get the k8 npt data change update new data to DIM” error
and my hdd is not even recognised, so it will not go past the bios.
sometimes it goes to the windows safe start, normal start etc screen, when I select any of them it turns off
I have tried changing the boot sequences, unplugging the cd-rom etc. no luck.
If i enter the xp disc for recovery, once it is about to search the hdd the computer switches off
any ideas?
hdd is practically brand new, just used in another system previously for a month…XP by the way
You will have to format the hard drive and reload all your software, sorry. In the bios, disable the hdd boot, and leave only the CD and floppy for boot. Use a Windows 98 boot disk on floppy, and after it boots up, type in C: and hit enter. When the C: drive appears, type in fdisk, and use option 3 and delete the formatted portion. Go back to bios, add the HDD to boot mode, and load XP disk. It will format the drive for you under NTFS.
