What is the best way to transfer data from my screwed up Laptop Hard drive?
I need to reformat my Laptop and I have important documents on the drive. How can I transfer the data to my desktop. The laptop doesnt boot up properly so I cant copy it normally. I already have an adapter to convert it from 44 pin to 40 pin. When I turn on the computer, the drive is there, but when I open it, the window closes right away. Is there like a recovery program I can use. I have advanced computer knowledge so please help me in anyway. I need that data otherwise I wouldnt care.

-Toshiba 2.5″ Harddrive Model MK2018GAS
-Laptop Dell Latitude C610, with XP Pro
You may need to load it into an external enclosure. They are cheap for 2.5″ hard drives. Load it up to a different computer and see if you can run chkdsk on it
