Fair price for data recovery?
I just did a data recovery for someone – 8 years worth of files. I’m debating charging the guy $100. I made an image of his failing hard drive before doing any work. As I was doing work on it the drive failed and refused to boot up so I had to buy a logic board for the drive ($60 with shipping….the guy wanted it done this week). So I recovered all the documents which by that time were on the drive but it reverted to a RAW filesystem. I’m debating charging him $90. I spent $60 + my time. Is this fair considering the work I did?
